Dear Longcoy Family,
“It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”
-Meister Eckhart
Welcome to the 2026-27 school year at Longcoy Elementary, where all students and staff….
Practice making good choices.
Act with kindness.
Listen and follow directions.
Stay in self-control.
Routines and lessons in our PALS principles went well, and we are off to a fabulous start. We are looking forward to another outstanding year of recognizing our students' positive behavior. It is so exciting to see our older students modeling good choices for their younger classmates, and seeing the way students recognize their peers through PALS morning shout-outs. We hope that you will join us in celebrating your student at home as well!
September is ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH! This month (and actually all months) we will be reminding students about how important it is to come to school EVERY DAY. Throughout the year we will be recognizing student attendance in various ways. Please let us know if we can do anything at Longcoy to better support your child’s attendance by sending a Parent Square message, or calling the school office.
By now you have received information from your child’s teacher, school counselor, and our school office via Parent Square or in their home school folder. PLEASE check Parent Square, folders, and backpacks OFTEN for updates and reminders about daily activities, homework, and special events. Our goal is to create an efficient and frequent line of communication so that we can all work together to provide what is best for EVERY CHILD… EVERY CHANCE… EVERY DAY.
We encourage students to share what is happening during their day when they come home. A good way to hear about daily activities, and practice communication skills, is to have a specific conversation with your child about their school day. This might need to involve questions, such as “Did anything new happen today? Did you have PE, Music, Art or Library-Media? Did you go outside during recess, or read any new books?” Daily talks are a great way to stay up to date with all the fun thigs happening at school.
Our goal at Longcoy is to create a collaborative relationship between school and home, to ensure your child has the best possible learning experience. One way this happens is through parent meetings and conferences. If you have not scheduled your fall Parent Teacher Conference, please do so as soon as possible. We look forward to talking with you, and working together as a Longcoy school family.
Have a great year!
Sincerely,
Heidi Singer
